About time! Google’s attack to the Iphone brainwashing of the masses has started. This morning, Google and Verizon Wireless announced an agreement to deliver mobile applications and devices. The companies will develop several Android-based devices preloaded with apps.
The first new phones are expected at market within weeks. Two will be released before the end of the year and they will support Google Voice and have Google’s Android Market preinstalled.
During a conference call, Google CEO Eric Schmidt applauded Verizon’s “openness,” saying it was “enormously surprising, given the history and the old-line nature of telcos….In Verizon, somehow, the leadership has decided to embrace a very different philosophy, which works very, very well with the Internet.” Indeed a surprise to see openness and telcos together in a sentence, and in 2009, not 2020…

-Gartner predicts Android to grab No. 2 spot by 2012 - Ahead of the Iphone!
-Amazon is rolling out 1-click mobile payments
-Palm Pre just announced a new open app anti-Apple strategy (well, on a different magnitude than Google, but still they’re trying)
…The day the Iphone will stop ruling the world is closer today.
